Dreams
Why can’t we remember our dreams?
We usually only remember the fact that we have had intense dreams when we wake. Only nightmares, or dreams of a particularly emotional nature, stick in our memories.
Why are some dreams coloured?
Scientific REM studies have proven that we tend to dream in colours but we do not always recall them. ... In our waking state, colours stimulate emotions. Similarly, colours also stimulate emotions in dreams. Scientific REM studies have proven that we tend to dream in colours but we do not always recall them.
Why do we have nightmares?
There can be a number of psychological triggers that cause nightmares in adults. For example, anxiety and depression can cause adult nightmares. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) also commonly causes people to experience chronic, recurrent nightmares. Nightmares in adults can be caused by certain sleep disorders.
How are dreams made?
Dreams mainly occur in the rapid-eye-movement (REM) stage of sleep—when brain activity is high and resembles that of being awake. REM sleep is revealed by continuous movements of the eyes during sleep. At times, dreams may occur during other stages of sleep.

Flight
Questions:
Does the weight affect how good the plane flies
Research Summary:
To get a plane to actually fly and not have a falling object from the sky you’ll need four components: weight and lift, thrust and drag.
Lift force upwards = weight force downwards (so the plane/bird stays at a constant height)
thrust force forwards = opposing force of drag (so the plane/bird stays at a constant speed).
The force working against thrust is called drag. It is caused by air resistance and acts in the opposite direction to the motion. Thrust can overcome or counteract the force of drag. Planes and birds have to be able to provide enough lift force to oppose the weight force. Lift is a force that acts upwards against weight and is caused by the air moving over and under the wings.
Hypothesis:
I think that the plane that has more weight won’t fly very well because there is more drag.
Materials:
Paper
Tape measure
Procedure:
Get a piece of paper
Watch a video on how to make a plane
Get a tape measure
Find a place to fly your plane
Fly your plane
Measure the distance
Write down how far it went
Repeat 3 times
Controlled variables | Independent variables | Dependent variables |
size | weight | distance |
Observations/Results:
Throws | 1 | 2 | 3 |
1 paper clip | 10.5 m | 8.6 m | 7.2 m |
3 paper clips | 5.8 m | 5.6 m | 5.2 m |
5 paperclips | 4.7 m | 3.8 m | 3.2 m |
Discussion:
My experiment went well because the hypothesis was correct.

Term 1 - All about waste
When we are wasting food, we aren't just wasting the food we are wasting all the recourses that went into growing it, all that waste just ends up wasting approximately a quarter of our water supply from uneaten food or over $172 billion in wasted water. When growing our food and putting to waste it actually ends up using up 21% of our freshwater, 19% of our fertilizer, 18% of our cropland and 21% of the landfill volume. After the food is disposed of in a landfill it rots and becomes a source of methane, a powerful greenhouse gas with 21 times the global warming potential of carbon dioxide.
If food is dropped or wasted, all the resources that been used to create it, even water, land and energy are also wasted, at the same time as the calories and nutrients they contain are wasted.
